How to Use a Wireless Thermometer in a Smoker?
Using your wireless thermometer is relatively easy. The following steps ensure accuracy and ease of use:
- Check to ensure that the batteries are installed properly.
- Ensure the temperature is displayed and the probes are properly connected to the transmitter.
- Insert the probe(s) into whatever you are smoking.
- Make sure that the heat source is not too close to the transmitter.
- Throughout the process, the probe needs to remain in the meat.
- Keep the receiver close to you so that you can continuously check the temperature.
- Carefully remove the probe once your meat is at the desired temperature.
How to Use a Wireless Meat Thermometer?
- Check to ensure that the batteries have a good charge so you don’t run out of power half way through.
- Ensure the temperature is displaying and the probes are properly connected to the transmitter.
- Insert the probe into the meat you are cooking.
- Make sure that the heat source is not too close to the transmitter, i.e. don’t put the transmitter in the grill or oven!!
- Throughout the process, the probe needs to remain in the meat for constant monitoring.
- Keep the receiver handy so that you can check the temperature whenever you like.
- Carefully remove the probe once your foods are at the desired temperature.

- Monitor the storage temperature – Keep your device between 40 to 149 degrees Fahrenheit (4 to 65 degrees Celsius).
- Pick a dry and cool spot – Avoid storing the unit near a water source. The thermometer will malfunction if waterlogged.
- Avoid shocks and drops – Use a wrist-strap or lanyard, depending on the unit you have.
- Use probe covers – Some units come with probe covers. If you have them, they provide one of the easiest ways to ensure the probe remains sanitary after you cleaned it.
- Use stem sheaths or original packaging – Some probes come with stem sheaths. Place your probe into this or in the original packaging. For some types of glass thermometers, using the original packaging helps protect it from sudden movements that may cause the unit to break.
